In the context of our information society, the processing of personal data has a high intrinsic value. However, data processing may result in a high damage potential for individuals. In this sense, liability rules for data protection breaches, leading to claims for damages, are of great importance for the protection of individuals. This book addresses this issue by examining the relevant legal provisions under European, Greek and German law before the European General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) came into effect.
